When one purchases resell rights for ebooks and softwares on line,does one have the right to give these materials free on the web?
Not necessarily.
The author can put limitations on the resell rights. When they do, they provide a license agreement with the product in which they sum them up.
These limitations can be that giving away free or selling on eBay is not allowed.
They can also disallow reselling under a certain price.
There are three kinds of resell products.
Resell Rights: you buy and can sell it but your buyer cannot sell it.
Master Resell Rights: you buy an sell and you can sell the right to resell to your buyer who can also resell.
Private Label: you buy and sell, you can put your name on it and sell it as your own product. mainly you can do with it want you want, even cut it up in different products.
This is just in a nutshell.
So check out the license agreement of the product you want resell or give away free.
